About the Department
Endoscopic Diagnostics and Treatment at the Gastroenterology Unit
At our four facilities equipped with top-quality gastroscopes, colonoscopes, and duodenoscopes, we perform endoscopic diagnostics for diseases of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract (GIT).
Our endoscopy unit focuses on monitoring patients after surgeries of the esophagus, stomach, and colorectal area, aiming for the early detection of disease progression. The department also actively participates in the nationwide colorectal cancer screening program, performing endoscopic examinations for patients with positive fecal occult blood tests.
We provide a comprehensive range of endoscopic therapeutic procedures, including:
- Polypectomies
- Endoscopic mucosal resections
- Ampullectomies
- Hemostasis procedures
- Stenosis dilations
- Endoprosthesis implantations
- Pseudocyst drainage
- Endoscopic percutaneous gastrostomy
Additionally, we offer treatment for early gastrointestinal tumors and precancerous lesions as well as palliative recanalization of GIT tumors using an argon plasma coagulation laser device. This device is also used to treat certain types of acute GIT bleeding, such as angiodysplasias, telangiectasias, and post-radiation proctitis.
In the X-ray unit, under fluoroscopic guidance, we perform:
- Examinations of the pancreas and bile ducts using endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
- Therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including removal of bile duct stones, and implantation of biliary stents as well as stents in the esophagus, duodenum, and colon.
